Qualifications

Ø  Two year technical degree or equivalent training

Ø  Minimum of two years experience in heavy auto repair, including diesel powered equipment

Ø  Two years experience in the operation of commercial vehicles or other similar training preferred

Ø  Bilingual in Navajo and English preferred

Ø  Valid AZ IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card

Ø  Valid AZ CDL

 

Job Goal

Maintains and repairs District transportation vehicles, including busses, trucks and automobiles, to ensure they function safely and efficiently.

 

Essential Duties

Ø  Performs a variety of minor and major skilled work in the repair of automotive equipment, working from work orders and repair requests.

Ø  Performs periodic safety and preventive maintenance inspections and take appropriate follow-up steps.

Ø  Tests equipment to determine status of maintenance and repairs needed.

Ø  Operates and maintains hand tools, power tools, welding equipment and automotive test equipment within safety guidelines.

Ø  Determines when equipment is still under warranty and arranges for warranty service through vendors.

Ø  Responds to emergency situations involving operation of vehicles during regular school hours and off hours as required.

Ø  Keeps work area and tools clean, safe, secure and orderly.

Ø  Prepares logs and other documentation for tracking vehicle maintenance and repairs.

Ø  May substitute as a Bus Driver when needed, picking up and transporting students from assigned locations to and from school and school-related events.

Ø  Prepares logs and reports related to trips and to maintenance.

Ø  Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Certificates/Licenses

Valid AZ CDL with Passenger/School Bus endorsement

ASE certificate preferred
